Reston Cluster Board, Comments on Recent Snow Work

Dear Terry,

I spoke to another board member and resident tonight that was out when your crew came through. The driver today for Whitney Park East has set the bar for the rest.  Not that we have received poor service in the past, but today’s driver did and outstanding job.

John said:

  • He meticulously cleared the entryway and was meticulous and careful behind the cars and left a small amount behind the cars.
  • I can attest it took less time for me to clear the back of my car than usual too.

Thank the crews for what they do during the snow and they are appreciated and today’s driver set a new bar for the rest !!!

Differences with ________ & Blade Runners…  
Their pricing for snow service is OUTRAGEOUS. We spent over $100K for the mild winter in 2022 and had to raise HOA dues.
Ther landscape team did not have the same attention to detail. Owner complaints more than doubled. Areas not mowed, shrubs not trimmed well. Wrong plants installed. Poor communication and slow to remedy their errors.
We terminated the contract and returned to Blade Runners.

Condo Resident In Alexandria, Shares thoughts on Blade Runners Snow Services

Hi Ingrid, just my 2 cents but I think blade runner did an amazingly good cleaning job after Mondays storm. On Tuesday they got all of the parking lots and walkways cleared of packed snow that had turned into solid ice. Even from oronoco to the walking path. I really appreciate it!

I just read your update on Snow Alert and I am sending this to let you know that your staff is ALWAYS attentive to those of us who live in the Wethersfield Cluster in Reston, and there SHOULD BE absolutely NO complaint about your situation.  You provide wonderful service to us and while there is always a complainer in the mob, please be assured that if we have to be adults and understand your predicament, then we just smile and thank you for keeping us informed.  Thank you, and please be very careful as you work through this snow storm.

I just wanted to send a quick thank you and give a virtual pat on the back for another great job well done at… Condos in Dale City.  As you may agree, its tough sometimes to hear more complaints than compliments.  So when I have something positive to share, I make it a point to do so!

Once again, unsolicited, I received multiple compliments about the work done by Blade Runners over the past week, in getting and keeping the driving and walking surfaces clear, at Hampton Square Condos in Dale City.  During this same storm, I heard complaints from a number of communities – it was a complicated storm to deal with and once again, Blade Runners has come through for us. 

I hope that you enjoy your weekend and that the predicted Sunday snow stays away!

Blade Runners Receives Customer Gratitude from Stonehurst HOA Residents


Thank you for sending the snow removal updates from Blade Runners. I want you to know, as my wife and I sat comfortably in our warm home last night and watched the snow fall, we were amazed by the Blade Runners’ crew, diligently plowing the streets, snowblowing the sidewalks and most notably hand shoveling the walks, individual walkways and porches late into the night. I was surprised by their most recent update, essentially apologizing for their ‘lack’ of response today. I hope I can speak for the majority of the neighborhood when I say we aren’t disappointed but rather satisfied by their continued efforts battling this historic blizzard. Even with their perceived shortcomings, our neighborhood is likely in better condition currently than most of the DC area will be in the next couple days thanks to their backbreaking work… we know it’s mostly a thankless job, but we want you to know we notice their efforts and are thankful for the tough job they do. Please extend our gratitude to Blade Runners and their crew.”

Pavilions Cluster Thanks Blade Runners for Diligent Work during Blizzard 2016


My name is Janine Leete and I am president of the Pavilions Cluster in north Reston, a community of 34 single family homes. Many thanks for the on-going progress updates. I have been able to share the information with the residents and that has gone a long way toward managing expectations. Several residents have e-mailed me and asked me to pass on their compliments to Blade Runners and the plow operators. We in the Pavilions have been quite impressed with the service. Somehow the driver(s) assigned to our little neighborhood managed to keep an open lane throughout almost the entire storm. We don’t know how they did it but we are grateful. Having heard from other cluster presidents who have contracts with other companies and have yet to even see a plow, I realize just how lucky we are.  Our thanks to the driver or drivers who worked our property on Friday and Saturday. Their diligence and hard work is appreciated.
